A Day Trip to the Boseong Green Tea Farms (Daehan Dawon)

For over six years, I have wanted to plan a trip to Boseong and its famous green tea fields, but those plans always fell through. This October though, I finally made it happen!

I was staying in Gwangju at the time, so I took a bus from Gwangju Express Bus Terminal to Boseong Bus Terminal. The ticket was 10,300won and I purchased it the day of at the station. Originally, I was meant to get off at the Boseong Bus Station and take either a taxi or another bus to the tea farm, but as I was on the bus, the driver announced that the bus would continue all the way to Yulpo Beach, making a stop right at the farm I was going to. This would save me potentially an hour in travel time (the buses don’t stop in Boseong often) so I decided to stay on. I’m not sure if technically I should have paid more or not, but when I got off and gave him my ticket he didn’t yell at me lol.

I arrived at Daehan Dawon exactly an hour and a half after I left Gwangju. The walk from the bus stop is a gorgeous one through a long road lined with cedars. The air smelled so good and I could have gone home happy just walking through the forest!

After a few minutes of walking, I reached the ticket office which has a cafe and restaurant attached to it. The entry fee was 4,000won.

After going through the main gate, you walk through another forest, this time with a babbling brook and wildflowers growing everywhere. It’s absolutely stunning.

Once you pass the fountain, you will see a the main restaurant and ice cream shop with lots of picnic tables. Behind that is the main hill filled with rows and rows of green tea plants. You are free to explore them however you like. I personally explored the main hill but didn’t climb all the way to the top, and decided to take an ice cream break before making my way to the peak.

The very very top of the farm is so high up that you can actually see the ocean! It is definitely worth the climb just to see all the layers of Jeolla province :)

After that, I grabbed some green tea bibimbap at the restaurant (the rice was made with green tea!) and then headed slowly back home.

If you’d like to visit another tea farm, 초록잎이펼치는세상 has an incredible view from its cafe, but walking there might be difficult. I chose to just see Daehan Dawon and go home :)

The bus stop is a bit of a walk from the farm so I wanted to give myself plenty of time to get there. Turns out the bus was nearly 20 minutes late so I didn’t have to worry haha!

Bus Schedule From Farm to Boseong Terminal

To the left is the bus number and to the right is the time period it should come (for example, but 70-1 comes between 6:35 and 6:45, but my bus came about 15 minutes after the estimated arrival time!

I took the bus back to Boseong Bus Terminal and bought myself a ticket back to Gwangju - easy!

It was a really relaxing and gorgeous day. I was planning on visiting the neighboring farm because of it’s insane view from the teahouse but I was satisfied with my time at Daehan Dawon :)
