Taking a Sunset Hike on Inwangsan In Seoul, Korea

A few weeks ago, my friend took a sunrise hike through a gorgeous trail that I had never known about. She said it was quick and easy, so I thought I’d give it a go for sunset! The trail covers the mountain of Inwangsan and is one of many ways to get to the top. The trail I took is pretty easy to access and while it is a short hike, be prepared for lots of stairs!

The easiest place to start the trail is near Gwanghwamun Art Hall. When you’re there you will see a 7/11 nearby. The 7/11 address is 서울 종로구 인왕산로1길 29 (Inwangsan-ro 1-gil 29) That is the start of the trail! Grab a granola bar and head up :)

The beginning is an easy ramp through trees and a field of cosmos flowers, all up against the Seoul Fortress Wall (more about that here) and it’s absolutely gorgeous!

You will then come to a road which you need to cross. Slightly to your right there will be a staircase. Go up and prepare for many many more steps after that.

The wooden stairs turn to big stone ones as you near the top and get quite a bit steeper but it isn’t hard to manage. Plus, you’re going to want to keep stopping simply to turn around and take in the view. You can see all of Seoul and even some of the neighboring cities when you get high enough.

The top has a rock that is a great photozone, but I got a little dizzy and decided that wasn’t the best idea for me at the time lol.

I went down the same way that I came :)
